About Jo-Ann L Hall, LCSW

Greetings! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Social Work and have served in numerous roles throughout my career. I have worked as an investigator for Child Protective Services in both New York City and North Carolina, a case manager for unhoused women with co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges, and an in-home therapist supporting families. For over a decade, I served in a dual role as a Domestic Violence Therapist and a Domestic Violence Liaison/Consultant to Child Protective Services.  I currently deliver clinical services to incarcerated men in a close-custody prison.

Although the populations I have worked with face diverse challenges, one common thread has remained constant: many are Black and other people of color who have experienced racism, discrimination, trauma, and significant mental health concerns. Many have shared feelings of mistrust toward the mental health system and hesitation to seek support due to stigma. Soul Wellness Services was created to address these barriers.

I provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and culturally sacred environment where healing can take root. I believe that every person possesses the power to create meaningful change, and my role as a therapist is to help them recognize, access, and strengthen that power. My treatment approach prioritizes people over diagnoses.

I work from a strengths-based, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and integrative perspective.  My therapeutic approach integrates person-centered therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic techniques, and other evidence-informed practices to meet each client’s unique needs. I also incorporate a holistic, culturally rooted lens that honors clients’ spiritual traditions and ancestral wisdom. This may include exploring body-based practices, rituals, values, and healing traditions from clients’ cultural lineages that support grounding, resilience, and connection. By blending evidence-based modalities with somatic, culturally responsive, and spiritually grounded approaches, I create a therapeutic space that affirms the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and community.
